1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp. baking soda

1/3 cup powdered sugar

1/2 tsp. vanilla

14oz. bag of coconut for frosting

For cupcakes:

Microwave 1/2 cup morsels in small bowl, start with 45 seconds and add 10-20 second intervals, stirring until smooth.  Cool to room temperature.

Perfect Beach Weather

With Memorial Day weekend behind us, and the unofficial start of summer in full swing, the Dormer House is open and enthusiastic about your arrival in Cape May this June.  So far this past week we have been in the 80′s during the day with the water temperature quite comfortable for swimming.

I would like to remind everyone that beach tags need to be worn when visiting our beaches.  A 3 day pass is just $10.  If you are planning on staying with us for a full week, then the beach tag price is $15 for a Saturday to Saturday beach pass.  They can be purchased at the entrance to any of our public beaches.

If you have never had the luxury of staying at a Bed and Breakfast before, I can assure you that it is a most memorable way of enjoying our seaside town.  The Dormer House is located on historic Columbia Avenue, 2 short block from the Washington Street Mall.  The Washington Street Mall is the place to go when in the mood to do some shopping in our fine specialty stores.  Also, up until June 15th, the Cape May Music Festival is having attractions all around town.

Please contact us if you would like more information about a stay at the Dormer House Bed and Breakfast.

We have a few rooms available!  Call now to book your reservation.

Memorial Day in Cape May

If you are planning on spending your Memorial Day weekend with us, you will be happy to know that there are lots of activities going on all weekend in Cape May.  If you are thinking about coming down to the shore, give us a call.  We still have a few rooms available for this weekend.

The most important part about Memorial Day weekend is remembering it is in fact a holiday to pay thanks to those who have fought for our country.  Located in the center of town, at the Columbia Avenue Monument, will be the Memorial Day Ceremony on May 30th at 9am.

If you will be visiting with use on Saturday, be sure to check out the Craft and Antiques Fair located at Cape May City Elementary.  Cape May City Elementary is located at 921 Lafayette St. next to the dog park.  This event is sponsored by MAC and runs from 10am to 4pm.

If you loved George Burns then Cape May Stage has what it takes to keep you entertained this weekend.  Come out and see Good Night Gracie.  This adaptation of his life has sold out every night since it started running in the summer of 2009.

Don’t forget our May mid-week special is coming to an end.  If you stay with us Sunday through Thursday, pay just $95 per night in select rooms.  Call us for more details.

We have a few rooms available for this weekend!  Call now to book your reservation.

Have a happy and safe Memorial Day.

Come to Cape May and Visit the Aviation Museum

The Dormer House in Cape May is having two package specials to make the most out of your visit.  They are the Spa Package and the Romance Package.  Yes, we have beautiful rooms, a fabulous full breakfast, and your choice of package perks like wine and gift certificates.

What should you do when you come to Cape May and want to make the most of your visit?  The weather is getting warmer everyday.  The possibilites are endless if you want to be outside, but I would like to recommend the Aviation Museum at the Cape May County Airport.  The Museum itself is located in a large building that is adjacent to the airport runways.  After you have toured the musuem with its historical timelines dating back to the 1940′s, you can venture outside to watch some small aircrafts land and takoff.

The Museum is open daily from 9am to 5pm.  It is located at 500 Forrestal Road in Rio Grande.  Please visit their website at www.usnasw.org.
